I’m sure you all know by now that Evo 2022 is less than a month away and features 9 tournament games, but what do you know about the 54 community tournaments running that same weekend? Ahead of Vortex Gallery’s debut as the community tournament label at Evo, 956 Productions staff Chickzama & Shiburizu (that’s me!) are sitting down with the TOs making it all happen.

Over on the 956 Productions YouTube channel the team will be uploading video interviews talking to the leads of each game featured at Vortex Gallery’s Evo 2022 event. First up is Will-it-Kill regular Butt69, who is stepping up from Fight of Animals tournament player to tournament organizer this year:

While you may expect that the community tournament space be the home of indie darlings primarily, it’s not really the case with so many games getting a spotlight. Case in point many popular anime games are seeing big registration numbers as Evo community tournaments. A couple of recently published interviews cover Blazblue (Centralfiction and Cross Tag Battle) and Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme VS Maxiboost ON:

To catch the interviews as they come be sure to subscribe to the 956P YouTube channel and follow on Twitter. Vortex Gallery tournament registration is open until July 22nd on Start.gg, and you can buy an online Evo event pass to get in before the 15th or buy in at the door at the Mandalay Bay.
