The tournament was held at Krypton Hobby Store in Coronado, San Jose, Costa Rica

Yesterday afternoon, we held our inaugural The Dojo FGC Local, a series of monthly tournaments in Costa Rica. Since the pandemic of 2020, the Costa Rican FGC local scene has struggled to regain its footing and we’re happy to help get things back on track. To do this, we’ve implemented a point system for Street Fighter 6 and will be doing the same for Tekken 8 upon release.

In collaboration with our friends ABA Games and the Costa Rica Anime Fighting Council, we organized tournaments for Street Fighter 6 and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. Attendees also got to play UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes when it went live for Early Access.

With Tekken 8 releasing later this week, we’ll be adding it to our rotation of games that currently consists of:

  • Street Fighter 6
  • Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
  • UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes

The Anime community is strong in Costa Rica. We must provide them with a space where they can enjoy their fighting games, too. That’s how SuperCombo.gg got involved in the local scene, through Anime fighters. Now that Shiburizu lives in the US, I told the Anime Fighting Council community here that I would continue supporting them, just like Shib did.

The tournament was held at Krypton Hobby Store in a town called Coronado, here in San Jose. We’ve been fortunate enough to secure dates at this location for future tournaments, making Krypton, as we like to call it here for short, our official FGC local venue. We’re appreciative of the store owners for their continued support. The venue has been wonderful, and the food is great, too!

Our next local is scheduled for February 18th. All our monthly tournaments in Costa Rica will be held on a Sunday unless otherwise specified.
