Rollback is the wave these days and it seems that companies are putting in the extra time needed to get it working right. SNK tweeted out yesterday that the upcoming implementation of rollback netcode into 2019’s Samurai Shodown will need more time after the results of the 1st community beta test, and is expected to release in late Summer of this year. That timeframe runs until just about the end of September.
Additionally, the second community beta test will be conducted in July. These tests have been exclusively on Steam, but the full release will hit all consoles barring Switch. Here’s the statement:

The second of new additions to the Granblue Fantasy Versus roster as part of the upcoming sequel finally has a proper trailer. Siegfried’s new trailer shows off a fair bit of the new mechanics in action, including the Raging Strike and Chain system for flashy guard crush attacks.
The trailer is sure to be exciting for fans of the character who wished to see him realized in glorious 3D, but we won’t have to wait too long to see who else is coming. The trailer reveals the next character will be revealed in early July. As a reminder, this game is still planned to release this year. Check out the trailer:
We’ve gotten teases in the past that Street Fighter 6 would feature alternate costumes out of the box for the roster, but now we know exactly what they are. The “Outfit 2 Trailer” shows off each character’s alternate costume, which draws from a classic look for the returning cast or a casual getup for the newcomers.
That means Ryu and Ken in their classic uniforms, Cammy and Juri back in the bodysuits, and so on. Manon gets an outfit much more befitting of her supermodel background, while Marisa gets a new suit to reflect the sides of their backgrounds that aren’t strictly martial arts. Will more costumes make it to the game over time? I guess we’ll have to wait and find out. Check out the trailer for the whole cast:
Leaked a day early but finally making his proper debut during the Tekken 7 top 8 at Combo Breaker, Bryan Fury is joining the cast of Tekken 8. Sporting a new cinematic intro with Paul and a costume change befitting his violent nature, the cyborg was never going to be far from this game’s core roster. Check out the trailer:
The third character on Them’s Fightin’ Herds’ DLC Season Pass has been revealed. The next character to join the roster is Nidra, a sleepy tapir with a mystical stage and voiceovers hinting at a ‘dream world’.
No hard date yet but the trailer does mention a Summer 2023 release date for all platforms. Check out the trailer which debuted at Combo Breaker 2023:
Topanga World Championship sends off Street Fighter V with an invitational bracket of some of the world’s best in Japan. If you’re not familiar, the format was previously called Topanga World League in its SFIV iteration. It’s a round-robin tournament consisting of FT7 sets with a deuce condition of maximum 10 games to win. It will be streamed over 4 days over on the Topanga YouTube channel starting today.
Invited players are: Tokido, EndingWalker, Kawano, Mister crimson, Fuudo, Zhen, MenaRD and Higuchi. Check out Day 1’s stream below:
Registration for East Coast Throwdown 2023 went live today, promising a 16 game lineup including next-generation releases like Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1. A variety of retro titles will also have tournaments on arcade hardware (and MiSTER, for Vampire Savior), with the option to buy an arcade pass if you’d like to free play all day.
ECT 2023 will take place from October 20 to 22 at the Hilton Stamford and attendance is limited to 3,000 entrants. Early bird pricing is available until July 15th on Start.gg.
Seems that French Bread still has work to carry out with Melty Blood: Type Lumina. After a rather strange announcement of having no plans to announce at Evo Japan’s top 8, the first hint of future content is coming in a week. On May 31st game director Kamone Serizawa and commentator Yu Mizukami will deliver information related to an upcoming 1.43 balance patch as well as news on future event support.
Whether or not that will translate to more event support outside of Japan is unclear, but at least to temper your expectations the stream will be in Japanese. The video notes also mention a “variety” of other contents to discuss. The stream will take place on the Type Moon Games YouTube channel, we’ll post a reminder as we get closer.
The DNF Duel official YouTube account recently posted a short Q&A session with game director Kodani Ryosuke about upcoming updates and support for the title.
It’s painfully obvious the “questions” are just a way to present information about the game’s future, but there is some info here: new characters are (still) coming, the voiceovers have been recorded, and a new mechanic that interacts with Conversion is coming. No time frame on any of this.
