MVC2 Ranbat season dates

Expect 1 tournament per month from December until May, with two dates already planned out. Here’s your timeline:

Register through the Eventbrite page to pay the $5 tournament fee and expect a $10 venue fee at the door. All tournaments are planned to take place at Next Level: 874 4th Avenue, Brooklyn, 11232. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required for entry to the venue.

Season format

The ranbat season is a series of double elimination tournaments. Here’s your rulesets:

  • Format: Double Elimination
    • 2/3 pools
    • 4/7 Losers/Winners/Grand Finals
  • Points: For each monthly Ranbat the points earned are as follows:
    • 1st = 10
    • 2nd = 7
    • 3rd = 5
    • 4th/5th = 3
    • 6th/7th = 2
    • 8th = 1
  • Payout:
    • The first season will end with a Ranbat in early May (date TBA). The players with the top 3 highest point totals at the end of the season will be paid from the pool of all the tournaments of the season as follows:
      • 1st = 65%**
      • 2nd = 25%
      • 3rd = 10%
      • In the event that at the end of the season 2 players are tied for the most total points, there will be a 4/7 tiebreaker to determine who is 1st and who is 2nd.
  • All Tournament matches will be recorded and streamed on RomnetoNYC or maddroo on Twitch.
  • Tournament rules:
    • The tournament starts at 8 pm. If a player isn’t at the venue and ready to play within 5 minutes of being called for their match they will forfeit and their opponent will advance.
    • Bring your own joystick or controller
    • Switch glitch is allowed
    • After winning a round, the winner must use the same team, only the person who just lost a round is allowed to change their team.
    • Dead body infinites can be used only to take the opponent to the corner, if a player uses DBI to run out the clock they will be disqualified and permanently banned.
    • Gambit and Morrigan disappearing offscreen glitches are not allowed and if used will result in a permanent ban.
    • Juggernaut power up glitch is allowed.
    • If a player’s joystick/controller causes blue box their opponent has the option to automatically win that match.
